TOOO COLD!

When it's 32 degrees in Miami, nobody goes outside so you can't fault me for not working out.
However, I will go running tomorrow because it seems that it will be at least a halfway decent temperature. I wore socks, mockisons (sp:), jeans and two sweaters to bed last night and I was nice and toasty.
Thank God I'm not doing the half marathon in New York because I'm sorry, I just wouldn't do it. I've become a Miamian, after almost ten years of being here, I've become a warm weather creature who only thinks that they love the snow.
So tomorrow morning, I'll don my running gear and sweater and go for my three mile run. Or four miles, depending when I wake up. I might go to the gym Wednesday night and run on the treadmill. I've got to get up to ten miles or I'll never make it in three weeks.
I've been eating up a storm, probably hibernation kicking in but I don't want to be heavier on the day of my run so I'm implementing Thin Within in my head starting this week. No more eating unless really hungry. Small snacks so that I don't get hypoglycemic.
Praying for the weather to change just enough to be great for running.

Nike JUST DO IT!

My morning started like this:
"quack quack quack (my IPOD alarm)"
husband: "aren't you going to get up"
me: "no, leave me alone"
10 minutes later.........
"quack quack quack"
husband: "aren't you going to get up and make me some tea?"
me: "no, leave me alone"
10 minutes later.........
"quack quack.....shut this thing up!"
"Babe are you going to get up and make me some tea".
"no"
But I get up, get dressed and put the tea on the fire and go out the door for my three mile run. Today was awesome. The cold air, the music-
"I see heaven, you have opened my eyes, I feel forever when your heart is close to mine. The moment you set me free, is the moment you captured me...."
Try listening to that as the sun's rising on a beautiful crisp winter morning. You could run for miles and not know it. I didn't walk once! HA!
Then when I get home I hear Lance Armstrong and some other lady I have never heard of tell me "congratulations you've just had a new personal best" Thank you Nike.

HEAL

My book "Heal" should be coming today in the mail and I'm really looking forward to reading it. I read "Thin Within" last year and it changed my mind about my body and food.
I am so tired I don't even feel like writing, I think it's the weather. It makes me want to light a fire and watch movies all day.

So the fearlessness for January 2010 goal is:
Complete the 1/2 Marathon

What will February be?
I think it might well be volunteering for Disney's Nature Preserve. Why would this be combatting fear you ask? I'll tell you. It's because I've been afraid of taking the time, asking my husband to go with me and spending the money to go up there. That's alot of fear that seems so trivial.

Or it could be buying a bike and getting over my fear of riding it on the streets of Miami. Will finish 2010 January 31st First.

Lazy Lazy Lazy

Wow, the holidays wiped me out and the cold weather is very discouraging. How do people in Minnesota prepare for a race in the winter? I wouldn't be able to do it!
All I want to do is sleep.
Last night I went to Whole Foods and spent $40 on basically nothing. I think half of it was gone by the time I reached home. There is something about eating healthy that makes you want to eat alot.
So, tomorrow AM I run. Saturday I sucked and didn't do the full 7 miles (only did 3 actually). My leg started hurting and after my Nike + workout failed to record my entire first mile, I basically gave up. I went home and laid around till the afternoon when I went to my friend's 30th spa party and drank sangrias and mango wine. I'll have to double my efforts this week if I want to retain any of my fitness.
Still trying to get the appointment with my doctor for the fat deposit that is crippling my life. I was always adamant about not getting liposuction and here I am, forced to get it for some stupid little quarter-sized lump on my leg. Sorry to be so negative- I'm tired. I haven't had caffeine.
It's hard to recover after almost two weeks of holiday.

WAKE UP!! I am waking up. getting myself together for tomorrow!

The Best Cure for Stress

Is He human that he should change his mind? When he gives his blessings, he does not take them back.

Woke up at 3:30am feeling really stressed out about my job. I couldn't sleep. I had to go in the living room and lay on the floor and pray and read scripture until my heart was calm again. I hate that the economy is bad, that our every waking second is spent stressing out about things we should not even worry about. I hate that I worry.

So I read this scripture and it put my heart at peace. If the Isrealites can wander in the desert for 40 years and still get what was promised, I will just have to be patient. I know this doesn't make sense to anyone else because I am speaking from a heart that has been overwhelmed and then been calmed.

So, I guess I just fulfilled another one of my new year's resolution- I had a quiet time- a really good one this week. Next week, I am determined to have a more positive and uplifting time.

I'm planning on running today, I'll put my wrap on my leg to make sure it doesn't hurt. Monday, I go in for biopsy to see if it's just fat or if it's something more (cancer?).

We'll see......

Last Night

I am sticking to my new year's resolutions- I ate a very large salad last night and then promptly chased it up with a large bowl of Frozen Yogurt. This morning I stopped by the little bodega on my way to work and ordered a small cafe con leche and tostada. Yum. So, it seems that even though I'm sticking to my new year's resolutions, I'm negating it because of everything else.
So, another resolution today:
Once a week Cafe Con Leche y tostada
Once a week Frozen Yogurt
The trick is to not have to give up what you love completely.
I'm having alot of pain in my leg because of what the doctor calls a "Lipoma" which is a fat deposit deep in my muscle tissue. It's the size of a large globe grape and it's probably creeping into my blood vessels and putting pressure on them which causes the pain. He says the only way to get rid of it is liposuction.
It's almost the beginning of the year- I don't have money for a liposuction!!
What's worse is that I looked up what a Lipoma is and it could also be cancerous which my doctor failed to inform me. Because I'm such a hypochondriac, I've already decided I probably have cancer and have only months to live. Just like a few months ago when I had pinches in my chest, I was convinced I had had a small heart attack and they just couldn't find it. I could go on and on about my many ailments but I won't. I have to remember that I am in God's hands and everything happens as it's supposed to.
Anyway, tomorrow I will be doing my weight training instead of running to give my leg a rest. Friday I'll run 3 miles.

Out of bed at 7am

Reluctantly I dragged my sleeping butt out of bed this morning. My rabbit was running around me in circles thinking I was up to play with him so I had one hand on my exercise pants and one hand petting him trying to make him think that yes, I had gotten up just for him. I carry alot of guilt with this rabbit. I feel bad that he doesn't have a friend. He doesn't like my husband so in effect, I'm his whole world. Rabbits are the cutest pets in the world but they are very picky about who they love and don't like to be picked up. Or at least mine doesn't. He let's me only because he loves me.
I digress. I got up, put my exercise pants on and did two miles this morning. It's over with today, thank God. I don't have to run again for another two days. The great part of running? You always feel like you've accomplished something. You're out there freezing your butt off or sweating to death but you're completely alone with your music and you can feel your body getting stronger with every pump of your arms and pounding of your foot. You become aware of your breath, your lungs, you think through things, solve problems in your head. It's such a liberating experience.
Go out and run.
